OBS: Optimization of the Rate of Penetration for Deep Geothermal Wells through Systematic Analysis of Downhole Vibrations in Lab Tests

The overall objective is to reduce the production cost of deep drilling of geothermal reservoirs. This is to be achieved by significantly improving the state of the art of the control of the mechanical/dynamical drilling conditions. Drilling processes can be disrupted by rock discontinuities which frequently occur in geothermal fault zones. Thus, undesired vibrations and dynamics are generated in the bottom hole assembly which substantially reduce the rate of penetration and lifetime. In this part of the project a new test installation shall be developed and integrated in the existing system via the adequate mechanic-hydraulic-electrical Systems for realizing the application of dynamic forces in six degrees of freedom on the appropriate test specimen in a high pressure environment.
