The DSC aims to develop more realistic simulations of the complex deep-drilling process, including planned drilling projects, with the coupled large-scale scientific equipment "software and hardware simulator". This "pre-simulation" should help in later drilling practice to avoid dangerous and environmentally damaging situations, reduce costly downtime, improve the ecological "foot-print" (including CO₂ balance) and enable long-term stable structures in the geological subsoil. The scientific results obtained at the DSC will thus find their way into the conception, planning and realization of future geothermal and underground storage projects in Germany and abroad.
